Owner Profile: Handan Iron and Steel Group and Baosteel Group jointly established Handan Baosteel Steel Plant. With the efforts of Handan Iron and Steel Group and Baosteel Group, the 4.6 million-ton high-quality steel plate base project is progressing smoothly. The six major projects of the first phase construction—blast furnace, coke oven, raw material yard, sintering machine, steelmaking, and 2250 hot rolling—are progressing simultaneously. It is expected that the first phase project will be fully completed in the first half of 2008. The construction of the first 3200 cubic meter blast furnace is nearing completion, and it is planned to produce the first batch of molten iron in February 2008; two large coke ovens have been ignited and heated; the 10 million-ton raw material yard basically has the conditions for stacking materials; the sintering machine project is undergoing equipment installation and commissioning; and the steelmaking project's continuous casting machine, RH furnace, and LE furnace foundation construction has completed 50% of the workload; the 2250 hot rolling project has entered the equipment installation phase, and the main rolling line equipment foundation has completed 70% of the capping. At the same time, other auxiliary facilities are progressing simultaneously with the main projects.
