Owner Profile: Maanshan Iron & Steel Special Steel Company's steelmaking plant, a key project under the "14th Five-Year Plan" for infrastructure construction and technological transformation of Baowu Group, has a total investment of 9.2 billion yuan and is constructed in two phases. The project is designed to produce 3.2 million tons of steel and 3.15 million tons of steel billets annually, including 1 million tons of medium bars, and 1.15 million tons of wire rods and large coils. Products target high-end bar and wire materials and continuously cast steel billets such as bearing steel, spring steel, and gear steel for the fields of rail transit, energy, automobiles, and high-end manufacturing. It aims to continuously upgrade on the basis of the existing special steel product structure to achieve basic full coverage of high-quality special steel products. The steelmaking plant adopts new smelting and control technologies and is constructed according to the standards of Class A environmental performance enterprises. Emission indicators all meet national ultra-low emission requirements. It is also equipped with intelligent equipment, centralized control, and remote maintenance, striving to improve the level of intelligent manufacturing. Its Phase I project started construction on November 18, 2021, was basically completed on December 23, 2022, and completed the construction task in only 18 months, creating a new "Maanshan speed." It was successfully ignited and put into operation on June 6, 2023. After completion, it will become the largest single production base in China's special steel industry, driving Baowu Maanshan to become a global leader in high-quality special long steel.
