Owner Profile: Datang Douhe Power Plant, officially known as Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd. Douhe Power Plant, is located on the west bank of Douhe Reservoir in Kaiping District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Construction began in late 1973, making it one of the key projects of the national "Fourth Five-Year Plan". After experiencing the Tangshan Earthquake during its construction, all eight units were still completed and put into operation by October 1987, with a total installed capacity of 1.55 million kilowatts, making it once the largest thermal power plant in the country. Party and state leaders such as Li Peng, Wan Li, Qiao Shi, and Zou Jiahua visited for inspection at different times. Premier Li Peng also inscribed the plant's name. Throughout its development, the power plant has continuously explored innovation, adhering to both internal and external expansion. By the end of 2008, the two 125MW units of the first phase were shut down, and subsequently, six units underwent heating retrofitting, supplying heat to 12 million square meters of users in Tangshan urban area. Currently, there are six units in operation, with a total installed capacity of 1.3 million kilowatts. In addition, the preliminary project for the Tangshan North Suburb cogeneration plant (2×350MW), for which it is responsible, was approved by the Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission in June 2015. Currently, the company is constructing two 660MW coal-fired cogeneration units at the original site of Douhe through an equivalent capacity replacement method. The first concrete pour for this project was on June 27, 2023, with official operation expected in June and August 2025. At that time, it will further transform, injecting strong impetus into regional power supply and economic development, and continuing to play an important role in practicing energy conservation and emission reduction, and promoting green development.
